Hyderabad Tourism places


HYDERABAD:

the capital of the state of Andhra Pradesh, is the fifth largest city in India with an ancient civilazation and culture.Attached to the city is its twin, Secunderabad, Which is part of Hyderabad.The city is nearly 400 years old and is noted for its natural beauty,mosques and minarets bazars,bridges,hills and lakes.It is perched on the top of the Deccan Plateau,1776 ft., above sea level,and spawls over an area of 727 sq. Kilometers.The city presents an attractive amalgam of lod world chram together with the edullience of grouth and enterprise. Beautiful old edfices built in the medieval, Moughul, Colonia and indo-Saracenic styles abound, rubbing shoulders with large glass and chrome temples of commerce.The city takes you back into her past presenting you back into the present with its beautiful parks and entertainment.The city also presents a look into the futures as a Hi-Tech city. Hyderabad has created a well known image in Information Technology and its also called "Cyberabad".

CHARMINAR:

A Pround sentinel in the heart of the old city.This is magnificent monument built by Quli Qutun Shah, is the unique symbol of Hyderabad. The monument located in the old city is a standing symbol of the Qutub Shahiera.It was built in 1591 by Quli Qutub Shah,to commemorate the end of the plague that had revaged Hyderabad,The four graceful minarets "Four Minars' soar to a height of 48.7 Mts. each, above the ground.The plan is a square, each side 20 meters long, While the four arches are 11 meters wide and rise 20 meters from the plinth. The massive monument and measures 24 meters from the roof of the massive monument and measures 24 meters from the plinth.The western section of the roof contains a mosque with 45 prayer spaces with a large open space in front to acommodate more for Friday prayers.To the east of this space is a veranda with a large open arch in the center,flanked by smaller ones both sides.Today Chaminar is the hub of the busy commercial area surrounded by lively bazaars,Mosques and palaces.

BIRLA MANDIR:

Built entirely of sculpted marble brought from Rajasthan,The Birla temple is a shrine to Lord Venkateshwara. The eleven-feet tall idol that stands in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple is sculpted from black granite,and is a replica of the statue at Tirupati. The view from the temple, Which stands on Kala Pahad, is beautiful at night - the city as a black sheet with shimmering lights strewn over it.

RAMOJI FIL CITY:

Sparead over 1000 acres. IT is one of the largest most comprehesive and most prfessionally planned film production centers in the world. IT is designed for a producer to walk in with a script and walk out with film. Besides its lavish sets,other attractions include many restaurants, hotels, nurseries etc. a must-see, especially for movie buffs,who should set apart a whole day to view the entire film city.

GOLCONDA FORT:

A massive fort with ramparts about 7 km in circumference,it stands on a hill about 120 meters high, Built in the 13th century by the Kakatiyas, it was improved upon by the Qutub Shahi kings. This city within walls was world renowned for its diamond trade and spawned such gems as the Kohinoor. There is a 50 minute light and sound show in Hindi, English and Telugu after 4.00pm.

Just next door to the Golconda Fort are the royal cemeteries of the Qutub Shahi Kings. The tombs are surrounding by beautiful gardens of Ibrahim bagh. The architecture here is side to be a blend of the Persian, Pathani, and Hindu style. Incredibly beautiful, with a wistful feel to them. In the Center of each tomb is a sacro-phagus which overlies the actual burial valut in a crypt below. You will be transported to another time and place.

NEHRU ZOOLOGICAL PARK:

Diverse flora and fauna spread over 300 acres make the Neharu Zoological Park India's biggest zoo,it has over 1,500 different kinds of animals and birds,most of whom are kept in conditions as close to their natural history museum and a kiddle's train serve as added attractions. The diversity of flora and fauna varies according to the season, but it is nevertheless a good picnic spot on any given day.

BUDDHA STATUE:

The 16 meter tall, 350 tonne monolithic colossus rises high from the placid waters of the picturesque Hussain Sagar lake. The monolithic status was chiseled out of a white granite rock, weight 450 tonnes. It was craved by 200 sculported for two years. The statue was transported to Hyderabad in November 1988. After the intial problems, The statue was erected on 12th April 1992 on a pedestral.

N.T.R.GARDENS:

A Leisure and Entertainment Center adjoining the Hussain Sagar Lake. A wonderful tourist spot done up in fond remembrance of late Shri. N.T.Rama Rao, one of the charismatic Chief Ministers of Andhra Pradesh, Situated opposite the Hussain Sagar Lake. IT has some amazing fiberglass structures as well as various rides and games for kids. The monorail system makes the touring even more beatiful. The Necklace Road, a winding road around The lake, connects the twin cites Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

LUMBINI PARK:

A beautiful landscaped park on the banks of the placid Hussain Sagar lake is the Lumbini Park. Lumbini park offers a lot of amusement. The main entrance of the park, a large floral clock allures the visitors. The clock is rich with brightly colored flowers of different shades. The highlight colored flowers of different shades. The highlight of the Lumbini park is the spectacular Musical dancing fountain and water cascading prvided with colourful lights.

HUSSAIN SAGAR:

The oldest excavated lake in Hyderabad, it came into existence even before the city was built. Ibrahim Qutub Shah has the lake excavated in 1578 with a bound on the Eastern side. Colloquially referred to as 'Tank Bund' the lake now has a monolithic statue of the Buddha standing in the middle of it. Boating on the lake is popular. The Necklace Road, a winding road around the lake Necklace Road,a winding road around the lake connects the twin cites and has become the stage for many the Hussain Sagar is immensely enjoyable.

THE BIRLA PLANETARIUM:

MECCA MASJID:

The largest mosque in the twin cities, Mecca Masjid claims to be able to accommodate about 10,000 people at a time during the prayer. Though Mohammad Quli Qutb Shah started the construction of the structure in 1617. It was the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb who actually completed it in 1694. Its huge columns and stately arches are built using single slabs of granite. IT is said that a few bricks brought from Mecca were implanted in the walls of its main arch, hence name.

SALARJUNG MUSEUM:

Salarjung Museum is one of the single largest one-man collections of the world.it is well known throught India for its prized collections back to the 1st century. The art objects were collected by the late Nawab Mir Yousuf Ali Khan Salarjung III. He Collected sculptures, wood cravings, religious objects, swords, daggers, armours, manuscripts, furniture, vases, snuff boxes, utensils, archers rings, ornaments, pottery, clocks etc.

FALAKNUMA PALACE:

Falaknuma Palace is a remarkable edifice which stands atop a 2000 feet high hillock. It is located 5 kms from Charminar. Built by Nawab Vikar-Ul-Ulmara, the Prime Minister of Hyderabad, It is a stupendous palce and connotes the "heavenly to as the 'Mirror of Sky'. The deer park, has an undualting terrain, of 189 hectares dominated by acacia trees. Antelope and the beautiful black bucks, which once inhabited the grasslands and plains throughout India, are an endangered species now.
